Desire Arsene


Desire Arsene is a professional dance teacher, performer and choreographer born  on 12 November 1996 in Rwanda.

He started dancing professionally in 2017 with choreographers such as Kettly Noel, Wanjiru Kamuyu, Merlin Niyakam, Wesley Ruzibiza and Abdoul Muyingo.

Desire Arsene was invited  as a hip hop dancer to showcase at the Batalo East dance festival in Uganda in 2017. He worked with the Next Move dance company in 2018 as a dance teacher and together with that company created a dance piece called Inside. The piece was presented at the Kenyan international theatre festival and at EANT festival in Kigali in 2018. 

In 2018/2019, he worked as a dance teacher for Amizero dance kompagnie and Orpas Roppa organization and conducted dance awareness programs in 10 different schools in Rwanda.  In 2019 he was selected as a dance performer with Mashirika for Kwita izina, a naming ceremony of gorillas in Rwanda.

Desire then went for a three-week dance residency in Belgium at the Halle de Schaerbeek Afro capital where he created and performed a piece called Iris. In 2021 he was part of the < in women’s shoes > satellite project of Learning Feminism from Rwanda by Flinn Works. Supervised by Wesley Ruzibiza, he created the solo ‘Corporate Wonder Woman’

Desire is currently a dance teacher who offers dance classes and runs a business with an aim of taking his dancing career to another level.
